Project Description:
Louis Sognot (1892-1970) designed and decorated this interior of the Au Printemps department store on the corner of Boulevard Haussmann and Rue de Provence. At the time, the store would host an annual fair and feature exhibitions on the lower level. This collection of images shows the vitrine displays located throughout the store throughout the 1920s. The images show displays depicting animals, architecture, ocean liners, circuses, and everyday consumer goods.
Images 2-5 show a reproduction of the hilltown of Cote D'Azur. The shop window display was designed for Christmas by Citroën an automobile company. The display cost the company $25,000.
