The Townships in the Malay District of Cape Town were originally created to separate races. The Townships have a total population of close to 2 million, and are located just outside of the city and close to the airport. The interior decor is inspired by South Africa, which has been nicknamed "The Rainbow Nation". Interior walls of the Townships are covered with colorful advertisements that lift the spirits of the inhabitants in economically challenged situations.
