Additional Information:
The Rijksmuseum Research Library, also known as the Cypers Library, is a four stories high historical library designed in the same Gothic and Renaissance style by Pierre Cyper found at the Rijksmuseum. As the oldest and largest art historical library it houses a collection of periodicals, monographs and art auction catalogs that parallels the collections found at the museum. Though impressively ornate and large, the library only houses one fifth of its collection on its selves which can only be accessed via an iron-work spiral staircase. Following a decade long renovation, restoration and rebuilding campaign of the entire museum, which had cost €375 million ($480 million) in which the wall decorations, cabinets and terrazzo floor were all restored, the library became available for students and art historians for the first time in 2013.
