Project Description:
This contemporary boudoir combines some art nouveau sensibility with bold, black and white polka dots. This mixture of styles is perhaps a postmodern combination of design tastes strongly associated with women. The genesis of the polka dot and furniture communicates a message of light-hearted frivolity - a dressing table being a place for beautification and grooming, the polka dot a design element used on garments worn during times of celebration that took place after grooming. While the bold, graphic quality of the dots adds a modern sensibility, the overall composition is overtly feminine.
