The museum holds artefacts and religious art from the Portuguese ruled colonial era in São Tomé and Príncipe.
Project Description:
The fortress was erected in 1566 to protect São Tomé from pirate attacks and to keep the city safe. The lighthouse was built in 1866 and rebuilt in 1928. There were restorations in the late 1950s, and the museum opened in 1976.
