La Recoleta became the first public cemetery in Buenos Aires in 1822.
Over 90 tombs are listed as national monuments.
While some tombs are maintained, others are in a state of disrepair.
Some of Argentina's most famous former residents reside in the cemetery, including Eva Perón.
Wild house cats roam the area.
It has been listed on BBC and CNN's worlds most beautiful cemeteries lists.
Project Description:
There are over 6,400 statues, sarcophagi, coffins and crypts in the 14 acre city of the dead. The layout was designed by Próspero Catelin, a French engineer.
