Significant Dates: Female students begin planing and raising money for the building in 1909. The building is first completed in 1911. 1940 it is moved 160 feet west to make room for a street extension. In 1991 the building was added to the National Register of Historic Places. In 2014, to make room for another expansion, Girton Hall was split into four pieces, moved to the UC Botanical Garden, reassembled, and renamed Julia Morgan Hall. This relocation was completed and the building opened to the public in 2015.
