Additional Information:
The current church is the third and final cathedral that has been built on the land. The first, from 1810, soon became too small for the growing population and the second, from 1842, had foundational issues and had to be taken down.
It is one of the tallest wooden churches in the world at 143 feet tall, and it is a national monument.
Much of the church has gifts from people, communities, and countries. The Bishop's Throne was gifted by Mrs. Manget to commemorate the Bishop's Jubilee. The eagle shaped brass lectern was gifted by the Diocese of Barbados. The iron pulpit was gifted by the Howell-Jones family, proprietors of the Houston Sugar Estate. The sedilla was donated by Chinese Christians. Unknown benefactors donated the great east windows and other stained glass windows. Queen Victoria donated the large and prominent chandelier.
In 2019 the church was renovated, which included the replacement of stained glass windows and boards, and roofing repairs.

Project Description:
The church is entirely made of wood, with most being the durable greenheart Guyanan wood (Some of the roofing was imported from the United States.)
