The Palace was built to be and remains the governmental headquarters of Paraguay.

Significant Dates:
1857 is when construction began
1867 is construction ended
In 1869 there was damage caused by the the bombardment of the Brazilian-Argentine squad.
In the early 1890s restoration began on the Palace but it ended in 1894 when a coup deposed the president.
In 2014 the Palace was being eroded by termites.
