Project Description:
This classroom layout for kindergarten and early-Elementary School children, designed by Andrea Balarezo Bachmann, a student in the Education program at the Pennsylvania State University, is arranged to, in the designer's words, "maximize safety, student experience and my own experience as a teacher" by placing the learning centers, teacher and student storage, as well as the desks accordingly. Young children need to be taught not only the academic basics, but also proper social interaction, so their very first classrooms are meant to be suited for playing fun games, engaging with other students, and sparking the young imaginations, while also accommodating the more concentrated study of subjects like math and reading.
